In Yoga, Meditation does not mean to reflecton or ponder over something.  Here, Meditation occurs when we are capable, by means of Yoga discipline, to concentrate attention on a particular object.  This happens while our body and mind are at complete rest.  If the object is isolated and there are no perturbing changes, a rhythm of perceptions is revealed, each time more subtle in information, brightness and knowledge. 
This knowledge is of a deeper nature than can ever be obtained by means of the senses, scientific analysis or reason.  This is Meditation. "Meditate"
